Data is the new oil, so data breaches scare us, right?
But it is even worse. From time to time, the media are shocked by press releases of quite often renowned companies, dealing with some serious money, which become victims of data breaches. Although we expect to be informed, in 2015 20% of security professionals admitted, that their companies hid the info about breaches.
But that’s only one side of the coin. The compliance rules related to data access policy too often remain just a theory! For instance, against all rules, 4000 (yes! four thousand!) Twitter employees had broad access to user data, including personal and geolocation data. The former head of security confirmed, that it was enough to read private messages [2].
Don’t let your company be like this!
– take care of your data policy
– execute appropriate means
– use CyberSec tools to avoid external threats
– …but also do not neglect insider threats!
Aware or not, people are always the weakest part of the chain. Help them be strong!
