How secure are commonly used passwords?
NordPass has compiled a list of the most popular passwords used in the internet.
Examples:
“abc123” less than1 second;
“Liman1000” requires 3 hours;
What about numbers alone?
“987654321” again, less than a second while
“9136668099” – 4 days.
Its’ both length and uniqueness that matters.
Our advice: make it unique on each site but don’t store it.
Ideally combine three words:
“mybluecar” – 2minutes
“myBlueCar” – 19 hours
“myBlueCars” – 1 month
Hint No.2 add a typo to avoid dictionary methods:
“myBelueCar” in practice will be more difficult to break using dictionaries.
Unique but easy for you:
airlines: “flySoHigh” = 14 hours while “flySoHigh99” = 41 years
groceries: “iShopAtBennyStore” is a 100billion years stron password!
